In Februrary 2024, a posho mill was donated to the group. This has significantly enhanced the lives of the members and has impacted the community in the following ways:

  • Ensuring Food Security: Providing access to a steady supply of maize flour.
  • Economic Growth: Providing opportunities for small-scale businesses, allowing locals to grind food for animal feed and mill maize for a small fee.
  • Enhanced profitability: Providing a local source to make chicken food rather than locals having to buy it from further afield.
  • Time-saving: Preventing the need to travel to distant mills, giving residents more time for other productive activities.

Community Involvement

The local community has shown tremendous support and enthusiasm for the posho mill project. Group leaders and members have come together to install it in a small building for security and have set up a committee to oversee its operations.

Sustainability & Training

To ensure the long-term success of the project, part of the income generated is for the maintenance and repairs of the milling machine. Training sessions have been delivered to empower selected group members with the necessary skills to keep the mill running smoothly.
