About The School
Mbubune School is a Primary School that was started in 2016 by the Mbubune community. They were motivated by the desire to send their children to school to give them opportunities for their futures. The school is located on unfenced public land on the boarder of Mbubune West, South and Upper villages. It was registered in 2021 and came to our attention in 2022, being our most recent addition to our schools’ partnerships. Currently, the school has just three teachers, all of which are funded by the parents which puts them under huge financial strain. The Government has promised to deploy teachers and a headteacher to the school by the end of 2023. At present the school has an enrolment of 50 pupils which is all that they are able to manage at this stage without government support or improved infrastructure. The older children at times have to take on the role of teaching the younger ones.
Mbubune Primary has a few dilapidated, unsafe and unhygienic toilets, no staffroom or chairs, 6 temporary class structures where the walls do not meet the floor and roofs allow rain to enter, they have a severe lack of educational resources, no access to water and nothing for the pupils to play with. Staff morale is low as the teaching conditions are very challenging.
