About The School
NAC-Nkiri School is located in Antubocio Upper village in the Kanjoo sub-location of Kenya and has an enrolment of 451 pupils.
The school began as a private school set up by Nkiri New Apostolic Church in the Year 2002. Later, in 2014, it was handed over to the government and registered as a public institution. In February 2017 the first government headteacher was deployed to the school, Alice Kanini Muriuki, who has helped the school’s development with the addition of a kitchen garden and a fish farm on the school grounds. The government has deployed 10 teachers but as this is not enough, the parents (the Board of Management) fund a further 4 teachers, putting huge financial strain on the families.
The school presently has 3 complete permanent, safe classrooms (1 built by the County Government, 1 built through parent contributions and the one built by THI). Although we have helped with the construction of a classroom and also with a separate boys and girls toilet block, the school still has a very challenging learning and teaching environment due to the 9 temporary class structures with pupils working on crowded desks and without sufficient educational resources. With the recent introduction of the new Junior Secondary on the premises, the situation has become more strained.
